Emily Chertow found her love for writing in high school when she started an advice column in her local newspaper with a mission to connect with others. After moving to New York City and attending Columbia Publishing Course, Chertow founded 'Pop-Up Journaling Classes'. Her goal aims to inspire people to practice mindfulness and to be gentler on themselves while jotting down their thoughts and emotions. The community she has built in the 3 years since she launched the idea continues to grow and evolve and she says it's her favorite part about journaling classes. Chertow shares how she got interested in journaling, why she believes in the importance of having a positive mindset, and how she was able to pivot her classes once the pandemic hit.
